One of the best ways to use tarot for personal growth is to use it for shadow work. It can be helpful not only to identify your shadow side, but to help you recognize it more frequently in daily life and get to know yourself on a deeper level.
But, what is a shadow side?
Our shadow sides are the unconscious parts of ourselves that most of don’t even realize exist. While shadow sides can be comprised of positive traits, it is usually assumed to be negative, and is the part of ourselves we don’t want to admit to having. But not wanting to admit to something doesn’t mean it’s not there. Through using tarot to discover your shadow side, you can get to know those parts of yourself better, and in turn, potentially become a better and more self aware person.
Tarot can also be used in your journey to personal growth in more ways than just shadow work. For instance, it can be used to help you along in your career, recognize when it’s time to leave a toxic relationship, or even help you become a better parent.
You’re only limited by your imagination when it comes to ways to use tarot in your daily life. Since the tarot cards work to help you access the intuitive messages you already know deep down, it’s a great way to access your intuitive knowledge and give you confirmation when trying to make important decisions.
Unhappy with your current career? Wondering if you should try for that promotion or leave your current company behind? Ask your cards! Often we find we already know exactly what the right thing for us to do is deep down, but it’s helpful to get confirmation from your deck.
Tarot is also a great tool for relationships, which is one of the reasons love readings are so common. Let’s put aside the more typical “Does he/she love me?” questions though, and dig into how it can help with personal growth in a relationship. Keep in mind, these can also be changed slightly to put the focus on your relationship with yourself. I’ll include the alternatives to each question when applicable.
To be honest, using tarot to become a better parent is something I’ve just recently discovered. It’s not something I see talked about often and only recently started to explore. But just like the relationship questions, you can slightly change the wording to better fit a parent/child relationship just as you can the relationship you have with yourself.
Asking all these questions are great, but it does no good if you don’t go forward and apply what you’ve learned through your readings to daily life. The best way to do this is to make it a habit, but making and breaking habits are easier said than done.
When asking big questions like these, it’s best to write them down in a journal. Grab a notebook specifically for your personal growth readings. Set a reminder in your phone to make a habit of asking these questions and reading over your previous answers each week. The more you reference your journal, the easier it is to remember to apply what you’ve learned to your daily life.
